Small apartments under the size of 40 square metres are a common occurrence both in old and newly-built residential buildings in Poland. Thus a challenge to create a comfortable, yet spacious and practical space for a specific client, according to their personal preferences, style of life and demands.
A detailed analysis of a pair of young scholars or students' needs was a starting point for this specified design: an open-spaced kitchen available from the living area, which also serves as a bedroom and a studying area/library. Both the living and the kitchen share a natural touch in the form of wooden furniture, finished with a modern accent of vivid purple. The bathroom is maintained in classic white and black.

The small size of modern apartments is often a drawback and a difficulty both for the owner and the designer, making the creation of a functional space a challenge. A custom - designed piece of furniture comprising shelves, a rotatable television with a retractable working area equipped with opal glass panels for privacy is the main focus of the spacious room, allowing for many different uses for the interior as well as saving the much needed space.

A modern client often faces the challenge of creating a functional, yet eye-pleasing space inside a small bathroom area. All the sanitary utensils - which often additionally comprise a washing machine - need to be properly arranged to allow for a convenient use of the room. Hence, a design task of designing a small, roughly 2 by 3m bathroom space. The shower, entered from the level of the bathroom floor, chosen in favour of its safety and convenience in use by the elderly and disabled, gives the possibility of using a foot-stool inside. A simple, marble vanity and an additional shelf placed below give the interior a modern touch and create an additional space for towels and other much needed items. The wall-mounted WC allowed for the creation of an additional shelf for smaller items and the placement of a small bathroom radiator.
The interior is maintained in grey "romantic grey" and white "arabescato white" marble. The partition and the shower door, both made of translucent glass create an impression of space inside the small room. Red, or any pure, vivid color will make a fine finish to the interior.

My and my co-designer's idea for the interior of a newly built, modern and crude interior of a media library in Centrum Spotkania Kultur in Lublin, Poland. The construction and concrete walls were left untouched, as we aimed our focus at the creation of several spaces for different use: reading, using the multimedia and watching movies. The stern, rectangular shapes of the interior and the furniture contrast with modern round bookshelves allowing for a non-conventional and artistic way of placing books, allowing for their more pronounced exposure.
