Kalinowszczyzna street in Lublin, Poland is an old trade route connecting Lublin with the Kievan Rus'. A market, known as the Straw Market (Słomiany Rynek) and an old Jewish necropolis (Kirkut) are located in that street. Originally, the buildings that stood there were a single-storey wooden or stone houses with lush gardens or orchards.
Nowadays many of those buildings have been demolished or forcefully abandoned in the aftermath of the politics of the government after WWII. Some of those buildings have been replaced by modernistic multi-family house estates. This created a number of empty building lots and ramshackle buildings requiring revitalization, all of which could be ready to house new tenants if prepared and designed properly to need the modern needs and demands.

This created a number of empty building lots and ramshackle buildings requiring revitalization, all of which could be ready to house new tenants if prepared and designed properly to need the modern needs and demands.
The revitalization's main focus is to create a series of new buildings in the form of tenement houses and polish mansions - two types of buildings already existing in the area, but with a more modern exterior. The layouts follow the look of the layouts of polish mansions in a more and less complex variants, with a central stairway leading to one or two apartments on each storey.
The newly designed objects are finished in shingle which covers both their walls and foors areas. They also feature eaveless roofs to maintain the simplicity of their forms.

The tradition of atrial houses reaches back to the ancient times. The layout of the building focuses around an internal space - the atrium, here placed on the side of the object's layout. The building's plan is divided functional-wise into two main parts: the 'day' and the 'night' area. The former comprises the living room, the dining and the kitchen area, as well as a small guest bathroom and the entrance area, and the latter comprising the bedroom suites and their respective bathrooms.
